| September 25, 2001 | Punctured Sinus |
|
Last week I survived getting the tooth removed and having my sinus punctured. I should make a t-shirt that says so... Probably the worst thing about having my sinus pierced is that I'm not allowed to sneeze or blow my nose or else I will risk losing the thin clot of blood filling the hole. You never have such an immense desire to blow your nose until you're told that you can't. And sneezing -- sometimes it's impossible to stop yourself from sneezing. In that case, I'm suppose to "sneeze with my mouth open." Let's just hope this doesn't happen in a meeting this week. My colleagues may not enjoy having me sneezing all over them. "What will happen if I lose the clot?" I asked the doctor. "You'll be drinking water and it will automatically come up into your nose." Ewww! Apparently, the other bad part about losing the clot, is that I will need to have part of the skin on my inner cheek surgically pulled over to fill the hole. So, I'm desperately trying not to sneeze. And I'm taking my Tylenol with codeine. posted by Jess Barron @ 3:44 PM |
